| Sports & Activities Chumphon Diving
Chumphon province is one of the lesser known diving spots of Thailand. With
around 50 islands to choose from there is no limit to what you may find
under the surface. With an abundance of marine life, caves and swimthroughs
on offer the area can also boast relatively unspoilt diving as it has not
been hit by the mass tourism and development that you'll find in Pattaya and
Phuket. Although you won't get as good visibility as you can on the Andaman
side, if dived at the right time of year, Chumphon can be extremely
rewarding both to the novice and experienced diver. Kite surfing
Kite surfing in Chumphon offers beautiful beaches and nature. Non stop wind
and friendly Thai hospitality combine to make your training an unforgettable
experience which water sport enthusiasts should not miss! Kitesurf away from
right in front of your bungalow at Chumphon's beautiful Tung Wa Laen beach.
As a result of it's geographical position this spot has some of the best
north east monsoon wind conditions in Asia. Upwind of Tung Wa Laen beach the
north east monsoon winds funnel past a large mountain and the wind is given
a further push by a sea breeze that kicks in every afternoon. This area is
at a trade wind latitude and in November and December winds average between
18 and 20 knots. In March and April this same spot experiences daily 12 to
16 knot winds. Kayaking Beautiful rivers meandering through
mangrove forests teeming with birds, small bays with white powdery beaches
next to limestone formations containing caves leading to hidden lagoons,
scenic nearby islands with lush jungle and coral reefs. These are some of
the things that make it a fantastic place for kayaking. Chumphon has not yet
been affected by tourism in a bad way and we aim to keep it like that.
Travelling by kayak we don't interfere with the environment or make any
noise, often wildlife doesn't hear us coming and so doesn't hide from us. |
